Nevada By Design (NBD), has been providing civil engineering services to Southern Nevada since 1997, we started as a locally owned/operated company and have remained that way with just one office of local staff.
Over the years we have, as a business philosophy, adopted the “Integrated Design Approach” and as such, strive to work as part of a collaborative with the owner, stakeholders, and other design professionals, to understand the complete vision of each project so it can emerge organically, with the full benefit of each expert’s input.
Local Knowledge:
Seventeen years may not sound like a long time to some people but a lot has happened in this valley, Mesquite and Laughlin as well since we opened our doors. However, Kent Anderson, Principal/Owner of the firm actually arrived in Southern Nevada back in 1982 where he worked as a design engineer for Clark County Department of Public Works. He later worked as a project engineer for a local construction company building infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, water lines, sewer and storm sewer pipes and channels, etc.), and a few buildings around town. Over the years he worked with several civil consulting firms before becoming a principal at NBD.
NBD also believes in working to balance the natural and built environment. This passionate commitment forms our understanding of the role we play in planning and designing the infrastructure of our communities.We are members of the U.S. Green Building Council and supporters of the USGBC – Nevada Chapter. Craig A. Ruark is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP BD+C), and consults on attaining LEED points for civil aspects of projects. Several others of our staff members are also currently studying to become LEED APs as well.

- Centennial Hills Library – LEED GOLD
- Miley Achievement Center – LEED SILVER
- Habitat for Humanity (donated services for two homes in Henderson ) – LEED For Homes
